Bubble Shooter 2

Bubble Shooter 2 I saw that genie in the load screen and made a wish; give me something I can enjoy! He looked at me for some time and then voila, the start button appeared! We’ve all seen ball shooter games, and while they may try to beautify the game in terms of graphics, not many of them are brave enough to alter the gameplay of it. That’s until games like Bubble Shooter 2 started to arrive in the gaming scene.

The goal in the game hasn’t changed though; you will shoot balls from a launcher to match three or more of the same colored balls together to clear them off. The new thing here is, instead of your traditional cannon at the bottom, cluster at the top game setup, the cluster is in the middle of the screen, and there are FOUR cannons placed on each side of the screen. How’s that for something new?

The first stage will be a tutorial, and you start off with the cannon at the bottom of the screen. You’ll be given a few of the normal balls to familiarize with the controls, which is aiming with the mouse and clicking to shoot. When you know how it works, you’ll be shown the magic ball. Now what’s magical about this ball is that, you don’t aim it at the cluster on the middle of the screen but at the other launchers. When you shoot at them, then that launcher will be the one you’ll be controlling until you get another magic ball! If you’re already comfortable with just shooting from one side of the screen, well I’m sorry to tell you but you can’t just shoot away to skip having to change positions. The walls are hexagonal in shape, meaning it’s harder to wall bounce a shot first and you can’t throw away your shots because it either sticks into the cluster, or it returns to your launcher if it has been bouncing around for too long.

The new thing about the bunch of balls besides the fact that it’s in the middle is, it is irregular in shape. It’s an ‘X’ to be exact, so it’s hard if you’re aiming for balls somewhere in the middle. Another thing about it is that it is affected by the impact of your shots, meaning if you shoot at the tip of the X, it rotates. That means that even if you’re just shooting from a cannon on side, you’ll be shooting at all sides of the cluster. Now when you already shot a lot of times and you haven’t cleared any balls, then new ones fly in from all sides of the screen. Your game is over when a ball touches the wall so, good luck.

Although the visual style of the game isn’t the best out there, the gameplay made it fresh. Bubble Shooter 2 is also accompanied by slow, funky background music telling you to ‘play at your own pace’. The scoring is generous too because each ball is worth ten more points after each level.
